Throughout his martial arts career Masayuki Shimabukuro focused his attention on Iaido, although he trained in many other styles in his early years. On this DVD Shimabukuro teaches the more advanced level of the standing techniques, featuring 10 Okuden Tachi-Waza and Okuden Itomagoi Waza, which are seated techniques derived from the ancient style of Iaido. Shimabukuro teaches these techniques from a standing and walking position against single and multiple opponents. Shown in slow motion and regular speed, makes these techniques easy to learn. Easy to follow Bunkai is also demonstrated by the master for each Waza.
Masayuki Shimabukuro was born in March 1948 in Osaka, Japan. He studied Judo, Karate-do and Okinawan weapons as a teenager. His sword training began in 1975. Master Shimabukuro received the rank of 8th dan in Muso Jikiden Eishin-Ryu Iaido and Shito-Ryu Karate-do, and holds the coveted title of Hanshi in both Iaido and Karate-do.
