Shihan Kenneth Funakoshi, the founder of the Funakoshi Shotokan Karate Association, began his martial arts training at the age of ten under Adriano Emperado in the style of Kempo. It wasn't until the 1950's that Shihan Funakoshi began training in Shotokan under Hirokazu Kanazawa. The same Hirokazu Kanazawa who was the world's most renowned and respected traditional Japanese Shotokan Master.
